BREAST AUGMENTATION

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that is performed to enlarge, enhance the shape, or balance the size of your breasts. The surgery involves the placement of implants behind the breast tissue or below the chest muscles. The type of implant, size and placement will be decided upon with you and Dr. Mahoney at your consultation.

Scars as designed to be as inconspicuous as possible (in the crease underneath the breast or around the areola).

The procedure time is approximately 1.5 hours, with a recovery time of 1-2 weeks. Upper body exercises may resume at 4 weeks.

MASTASTOPEXY (BREAST LIFT)

Factors such as pregnancy, weight loss, gravity and aging produce changes in a woman’s breasts that cause them to lose their shape and begin to sag. A breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure to elevate and reshape sagging breasts. Excess skin is removed and supporting tissues are tighten to lift the breasts.
If your breasts have lost volume over time, breast implants may be considered in conjunction with a breast lift to increase the size of your breasts.

Scars are around the areola, often with a vertical extension below the areola to tighten the skin (similar to a breast reduction).

The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia. Procedure time is approximately 2 hours, with a recovery time of 2 weeks. Upper body exercise may resume at 4 weeks.

Reduction

and weight of your breasts. If you experience a variety of problems from heavy breasts, your surgery may be an insured service by OHIP. In many cases, patients benefit from liposuction of the lateral chest wall (sides of the breasts) to improve the overall contour and result of your surgery. Liposuction is not an insured service by OHIP.

Dr. Mahoney prefers to use minimal scarring techniques whenever possible when performing breast reductions.

The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia. Procedure time is approximately 2 hours, with a recovery time of 2 weeks. Upper body exercise may resume at 4 weeks.

Male breast reduction (Gynecomastia surgery)

Over-development of the male breast (gynecomastia) is a common problem that can cause an individual to feel subconscious in clothing and uneasy about exposing their chest in public. A male breast reduction (gynecomastia surgery) is a procedure designed to remove excess fat and gland tissue of the breast. This results in a flatter and more firm contour to the chest. The procedure involves a combination of direct surgical excision of breast tissue through a small incision and liposuction. In some cases a portion of the procedure may be an insured service by OHIP. Liposuction is not an insured service.

Scars are designed in a semicircular fashion around part of the areola.

The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia. Procedure time is approximately 2 hours, with a recovery time of 1 week. Upper body exercise may resume at 4 weeks.
